Q.307 - I have fluid in one tube of my left ear. I would like to continue using the nasal wash for the other sinus. If you put wash in right nostral does can it affect the right or left ear?

When you rinse with the squeeze bottle, if you rinse on the right side, it may affect the right ear. If you rinse on the left side it might affect the left ear. But when you irrigate using the neti pot, it may affect opposite ear to the nasal passage you are rinsing.

 1) I just re-read the disinfecting instructions (I have used NeilMed Sinus Rinse for years). Maybe I missed it before but the instructions say to use distilled or filtered water to wash the bottle with detergent. I have always used tap water to wash and then a rinse with distilled water. I then microwave the bottle and tube. Is it ok to use tap water for the wash? I seems to wast a lot of distilled water to wash and rinse the bottle. 2) Also, when I microwave should I place the tube on the bottom of the microwave or is it OK to place the tube and noozle on top of the bottle? 3) What is the best head angle to use to get to chronic sinus congestion in the cheek just below the eyes? I also have congestion and pain along the side of one eye near the nose. Should I try double saline to try to get rid of this chronic congestion?

Dr. Mehta I started using Neilmed sinus rinse and after using it for couple of days, i feel like there is a weird smell in my nose. It might be the saline smell. I also feel a little light headed at times. Its been two days now and the smell in my nose has not gone away nor has the light headedness. Is this Ok?
