General Descriptions - Duties

Summary
of Responsibilities:



The
director of manufacturing operations oversees all manufacturing operations to
ensure production meets the required deadlines, quality standards and is
completed within the operational budget in an established timeline.



 



Key
Responsibilities:



1.    
Assists company officers and senior staff
members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning,
policies, programs and objectives.



2.    
Develops the manufacturing plan and
establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing
operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company
quality standards.



3.    
Achieves optimum employee levels with least
amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.



4.    
Formulates and recommends manufacturing
policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving
its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.



5.    
Directs and monitors department staff to
accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established
manufacturing and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department
management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels
to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that
affect their performance, attitudes and results.



6.    
Leads in hiring, training, developing and
evaluating staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in
accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state
and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.



7.    
Identifies, recommends and implements changes
to improve productivity and reduce cost and rework data. Directs the
establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.



8.    
Directs and coordinates various programs
essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping,
cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).



9.    
Initiates and coordinates major projects
(e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs,
etc.).

10. Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned
and required.

Qualification Requirements (experience, training, skills, education)

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION



 



·         
BA/BS in
industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree
in related discipline.



·         
Minimum of 3 years
experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented
operations and/or related industry. 



·         
Experience
managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation
of a smaller manufacturer.



·         
Experience in
ISO certified plant preferred.



·         
Experience in
dry powder/liquid gel packaging in over the counter Pharmaceutical products.



·         
Experience in
consumer goods manufacturing (dry powder, liquid gel, spray canister, etc.)



·         
Ability to export product
manufacturing, packaging and co-packaging.



 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY



·         
This position manages all employees of the
department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the
employees within that department.



WORK ENVIRONMENT



·         
This job operates in a professional office
environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as
computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The
employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions in the plant. The
noise level in the work environment can be loud. 



EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK



·         
This is a full-time position, and hours of
work and days will depend on production. 
A minimum 10 to 12 hour work day will be required.



·         
Must be available before the start of first
shift, until after the start of second shift to ensure proper production set up
and procedures.
